BlokhedJelli -Back for Good [DevLog#7]


Happy Friday folks!

I've been busy this past month with some personal stuff and didn't have a lot of time to work on BlokhedJelli.  So today's devlog is going to be a bit lean, and I apologize for that.

What I did manage to do was some boring code cleanup, A full overhaul of the World 1 tilesets, and a new ladder mechanic!

Seeing as the first couple of levels take place on a beach, I felt that the original tileset wasn't an appropriate one for the location.

So I created a new Beach tileset in Aseprite and added it in as a new tilemap in Godot.

After updating the level tiles, I started shaping the ladder which takes the shape of a sturdy plant.
I started with a simple line in Aseprite.


Then using the Tiled Mode in the Y-Axis, I made that it would seamlessly connect




Then, I added some yellow shapes to represent flowers to break up the shape a bit and make it a little more organic.


And finally, I gave it more details and an outline.


Now the artwork for the ladder-vine was finished.  All that was left for me to do was stick it into Godot and make a tilemap for it.
It's still a little rough around the edges, but it works!  Now Blokhed and Jelli have access to a new way of exploring and traversing their world!
