BlokhedJelli -New Demo Incoming! [Devlog #14]


Happy Thursday folks!

These past two weeks I focused on polishing some visuals, updating some UI sound effects, and working on Flower Hopper's boss phases!

I updated the World Map with some details for Snake Island.
I got rid of the water (I'll explain later) and started with an outline of the beach and the jungle.
Then, I added some grass and tropical trees🌴

Once I finished those little details I went and put in some mountains🗻

Now, as promised, the water. 
Originally it was just a stock blue color around the island. It was fine at first, but I was a little too stale.

So I made a quick water animation to give the image a little more umph!

I dropped it into the map and VUALA!!

An interesting world map location!

As I mentioned before, I also worked on Flower Hopper.
Now he can't be a hopper if he doesn't hop. So I gave him one.


But alas, he skipped leg 🦵day and he could only hop a little. So I took him to the gym to bulk up those legs!

That's more like it! But it was almost like he was floating more than jumping. 

I went back to the drawing board to give him a little more weight so he doesn't just float away.

There we go! Now he's hopping with some authority and throwing his weight around.

But something was still missing.  Blokhed can just run right past him. Sure he shakes the ground but that's it.

I needed to put at least a little fear into Flower Hopper's enemies, so back to the gym we went!

Now he knows a pretty cool kick move.

He's still an amateur so he won't always hit his mark, but hey, at least now Blokhed has to keep his guard up!

Now that he had a pretty basic move, I polished the rest of his basic phase with effects and even a new boss bar!

That's just a sneak peek at what's to come with BlokhedJelli's first boss!
